Spotify Brings Diwali Cheer with the Cast of Gullak

Spotify has launched its Diwali campaign featuring the cast of TVF's Gullak, built around the tagline ‘Diwali ki taiyaari fun banao, Spotify chalao’.

The campaign includes three films featuring the Mishra family as they prepare for Diwali. Through everyday festive activities such as making laddoos, creating rangoli and untangling decorative lights, the campaign highlights how music can make household preparations more enjoyable.

Music Turns Everyday Chores into Fun

Each film showcases a different Diwali preparation activity paired with popular songs.

  • Making laddoos: The family prepares sweets while listening to ‘Taambdi Chaamdi’.

  • Creating rangoli: The activity becomes more entertaining with ‘Chaiya Chaiya’.

  • Decorating with lights: The family untangles festive lights while enjoying ‘Badan Pe Sitare’.

The films capture the familiar arguments and interactions that take place during family preparations. Music eventually brings everyone together, turning routine chores into shared festive experiences.

The campaign films are available on Spotify's official Instagram and YouTube channels.

Extending Spotify's Everyday Music Campaign

The Diwali initiative builds on Spotify's earlier ‘Roz ke Kaam Fun Banao, Spotify Chalao’ campaign, extending the idea of making everyday activities more enjoyable through music.

The platform has also highlighted changing listening habits during the festive season. According to Spotify:

  • Party playlist streams increase by 34% during the festive season.

  • Devotional music listening rises by 13%.

  • Listening through shared spaces such as televisions, cars and speakers increases by 13% compared with the August baseline, reaching 5.24 million weekly content hours.

Making Music Part of Diwali Celebrations

Through the campaign, Spotify aims to position music as an essential part of everyday festive preparations.

Featuring the familiar Mishra family from Gullak helps the brand connect with audiences through relatable household moments. By combining popular music, family interactions and traditional Diwali activities, Spotify presents its platform as a way to make celebrations more engaging and enjoyable.
